USA Today reports seed sales are up, and it’s barely March. No doubt gardening will see a resurgence with the recession (the local/sustainable movements are having an impact too), and no doubt it will be significant: during World War II, about 40 percent of all fruits and vegetables were grown at home.
It’s Organic, but Does That Mean It’s Safer?
The national outbreak of salmonella in products with peanuts has been unsettling for shoppers who think organic food is safer.
The plants in Texas and Georgia that were sending out contaminated peanut butter and ground peanut products had something else besides rodent infestation, mold and bird droppings. They also had federal organic certification.read full story here
